Food is one of the basic necessities for human survival. The kind of food we eat directly affects our physical and mental health. It is important that we eat the right kinds of food to maintain a healthy body.
There are six essential nutrients that our body needs daily: carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, and water. Carbohydrates are necessary for energy production. Protein is needed for growth and tissue repair. Fat helps us absorb vitamins and minerals from food as well as providing insulation and energy storage capacity. Vitamins are essential for normal bodily functions while minerals help keep our bones strong and regulate fluid balance in the body tissues. Water is necessary to transport nutrients throughout the body as well as aiding in digestion and elimination processes
